Nine hour trip well worth it as men's team soundly beat East Anglia
The men's team get back to winning ways with a hard-working 6-2 victory against East Anglia that included a nine hour trip there and back.
Fresher Sam Page was the star of the show as he collected his first two goals ever in lacrosse and Marcus Howe also managed to collect a couple to seal Staffordshire's fourth win of the season.
"I belieive that after that loss against Trent was a wake up call for the team as we linked as one and it was a great rebound from such a heavy defeat the week before" says captain Dimitri Chambers.
When a teams had a four and a half journey on a mini-bus, you would not expect anything but a win. Staffs produced the all-round performance that was needed to beat this dangerous East Anglia side. The visitors were expecting a lot of big hits from the Norfolk side, but it seemed UEA weren't on form today and Staffs capitalised on every mistake that was made.
"The defence worked well together with all the midfield pulling their weight aswell which was a big succuess to the defence...keeper simon was on 'fire' during this game which would give him the best performance this season to date" comments captain Chambers. Staffs produced their best defensive display of the season by shutting out East Anglia for the first three quarters. It took the final quarter to ripple the Staffs net, and they managed to do it twice which included one that was seen as a suspected crease violation.
This performance now gives captain Chambers a lot of confidence as Varsity is now under two monts away "With Varsity looming around the corner, the team that was used for UEA was a great insight to the working of the varsity team. The linking up between all four sections of the team, keeper, defence, midfield, and attack, everyone linked very well" said Chambers.
