Staffordshire Men’s Lacrosse fought a tough match this Wednesday against Essex 1sts.
The sides collided in what ended up being a rather scrappy encounter but a regrettably losing one for the home side.
Mixed team hold on to narrow victory to rise to third
After what was looking like a comfortable victory for Staffs, a late fightback from the visiting Birmingham Medics made it a tense ending for captain Shane Hall. But they managed to hold on 10-9 and they now record their second victory of the season and are alone in third place in the Midlands league.

League favourites Loughborough continue to stroll the Midlands first division with a crushing 29-0 victory over a Staffs side that is still trying to cope with this unexpected promotion.
Loughborough show class with easy win over mixed team
It is never an easy task trying to beat Loughborough in any sporting event, so it was all about experience for Shane Hall and his team. Goals from former captain James Perkins and a first ever goal in mixed by Thomas Chandler was not enough as the league favourites cruised to a 24-2 victory.

Keele send early Varsity message with two wins on Staffs turf
Varsity rivals Keele produce the ultimate insult and do the double over the Staffs men's and women's team on their own pitch. It was a case of lack of numbers for the hosts in both contest as they were forced to use some of Keele's freshers.
For the men, it was a 9-2 loss. Despite a first career goal from Daniel Wichler and Thomas Chandler slotting the ball home, it was a repeat of last March.
The ladies had an almost similar outcome as they were ousted 6-2. Staffs goals came from vice-captain Suzanna Tompkins and Rebecca Merchant.

Promising start for the women's team with best ever result
With just two weeks before the season starts, Captain Lara Kynoch's recruitment has so far been a successful one as the women's team narrowly lost out to Leeds Met Carnegie 10-6 in a friendly and to date is the best result ever for the women's team.
The fixtures for the Mixed league have been released. The season will begin on 16th October with an away trip to Birmingham.
Captain Shane Hall will be looking for another successful season for Staffs, hopefully challenging Warwick and Loughborough along the way and of course keeping Staffs' 100% record at Varsity. That is of course Keele choose to put the event on.
The fixtures of the 2011/12 BUCS leagues have been released. The men's team begin on October 19th when they travel to Birmingham as they make their début in the Midlands 1st Division. It is more firsts for the men's teams as they are entered into the BUCS Trophy. They begin their campaign at home against Essex on November 9th.
The women however start a week later on October 26th and they travel to Leicester. In the Midlands Conference Cup, they have to travel to Warwick 2nds.

Men's team given surprise promotion due to Loughborough entering second team
With Loughborough putting in a second team for next season in Midlands Division 2, this means Staffordshire's men's team are promoted up a division to Midlands Division 1 to make the divisions each containing six teams.
Women's team re-entering BUCS for next season
After withdrewing half way through last season, the women's team announced that they have signed up to the BUCS league for another year.The target for captain Lara Kynoch looks to not only complete a full season, but get goals and the teams first win.

Staffordshire's Mixed Lacrosse side produced a top performance to give their University a vital point in a narrow 11-9 victory over Keele at Varsity.
Four goals by captain Marcus Howe was the highlight in the two goal victory. The hosts always had the lead, but it was never over as a contest as the underdogs were always attempting a possible comeback

Trent ruin the party once again as the men's team suffer cup final loss
It was a hat-trick of wins for Nottingham Trent. But this time it was cup final agony for captain Dimitri Chambers and co. as they lost 8-2.
It was a much improved performance against the league champions as goals from Chambers and Shane Hall gave the men's team some confidence with Varsity now one week away.

Mixed team end season on high with an emphatic win at Birmingham Medics
Staffordshire's mixed team finished the season off in style as they dominated from start to finish and defeated Birmingham Medics 9-2 to finish third in the league.
A hat-trick by Shane Hall was the highlight of the match. Stephen Jinks ended his mixed career with two goals. Another highlight was Hayley Fountain becoming the team's 19th different goal scorer of the season.

A hat-trick by captain Dimitri Chambers was just a small section of what was a terrific display of team-work by Staffordshire's men team against Lincoln. The visitors secured a place in next Wednesday's cup final at Nottingham Trent with a comfortable 9-2 victory.

Despite it being a possible 'promotion-decider', the men's team's final league match of the season was seen more of a warm-up for Varsity as they lost 11-1 to Nottingham Trent who ended their season with a perfect 100% record.
Staffordshire's only goal came from vice-captain David Drysdale in the second quarter, with a powerful drive from a Nathan Villiers pass.

Hat-tricks from fresher Shane Hall and the returning Jack Tew pushed the mixed team to a convincing 11-7 double-header win at Nottingham.
Despite the roughness of the home side and the controversial refereeing, captain Marcus Howe made sure they kept playing their own game. With one league game left before Varsity, performances like that, is what is needed.
A harsh loss, but one that will hope to re-launch the women's team after friendly at Warwick
Stamina seemed to be the key in this loss for the women's team in what was their first match in almost four months. Staffordshire lost 8-1 against Warwick 2nd's
Staffordshire's goal came from attacker Hayley Fountain in the first quarter with a neat individual run that ended with a well placed shot that rippled the Warwick net.

Another tough win for men's team as East Anglia face long journey home
Goals from Nathan Villiers, captain Dimitri Chambers and Marcus Howe made it seven wins for the men's team as they give themselves a fighting chance to snatch promotion from Nottingham Trent with a 3-1 win against third place East Anglia.
It was a top all-round performance which gives captain Chambers a lot of confidence going into their cup semi-final at Lincoln.
Men's make it six wins this season despite under-par performance
Another win for the men's team but it was one they had to work hard for. It took the final quarter for the hosts to grab the lead and it was sealed with a come-back goal by Stephen Hamilton.
A hat-trick from David Drysdale was the highlight of the day. Two goals each from man-of-the-match Marcus Howe and Shane Hall also helped the men's team guarantee a top two finish in the league.
Mixed team produce valiant effort against top of the league but fall short in double-header
It was a terrific effort from the mixed team but Warwick were just too good on the day as they continue to look like league champions once again with a 16-11 victory in Staffordshire.
Dimitri Chambers continued his hot scoring form with four goals. Captain Marcus Howe also contributed with two as did vice-captain Paul Chandler who collected a couple of vital goals. Shane Hall and Kristina Goggin also managed to get their firsts goals ever for the mixed team.

Despite going 7-3 down at the start of the third quarter, the men's team rallied and found their mojo to soundly beat Lincoln 16-10 in a day full of incidents.
Four goals by Nathan Villiers and hat-tricks by James Anderson, Shane Hall and Adrein Reinert helped Staffordshire collect their sixth win of the season to close the gap on leaders Nottingham Trent to three points. But Hall saw the red mist and was sent off with ten minutes remaining to make it a nervy finish.
