STAFFORDSHIRE'S mixed lacrosse once again retained their crown and as yet are unbeaten over the Varsity competition.
The Scorpions recorded an 11-9 victory over Keele in one of their hardest fought matches in their history.

THE Staffordshire mixed team dressed up as cowboys for the day in the MMU fundraising tournament.
A successful day saw the cowboys finish third, losing out to the eventual winners Leeds by just two points.Had the cowboys scored just four goals more they would have finished second but as it was a third place finish was good enough.

THE Scorpions have all but guaranteed third spot after Birmingham forfeited their home game against Staffs.
Birmingham will have to beat title chasers Warwick and Loughborough in order to overtake the Scorpions but time is running out for those fixtures to be played.
Staffordshire have moved up one spot from last years final standings and now look forward to the end of season Varsity match.
STAFFORDSHIRE'S mixed team saved their biggest win for the last game of the league season.
They ran out 22-2 winners, which included 10 goals from Carly Edwards in what was her last league game.

THE committee for 2009/10 has now been deicided after voting was completed on Wednesday. With Men's, Mixed and Women's captains all graduating it means the committee is full of fresh faces.

THE step up to challenge Warwick University proved just too much for a spirited mixed team as they lost 24-3 in the falling snow.
In wind, rain and snow Staffordshire took the lead and held the home team to only a 3-1 lead after the first quarter.
However as the weather got worse, Warwick stepped up a gear and the pace and accuracy of their attack saw the home side score 21 goals in the last 3 quarters.

LEEDS came to Staffordshire and proved their class as they came out 23-1 winners. The team from Yorkshire are currently top of the table and their extra experience showed even after a spirited performance from the Scorpions.
STAFFORDSHIRE'S men put in a fighting performance but it wasn't enough to prevent a 15-2 lose against Norbury A.
Jimmy Ray and Stuart Bausor claimed the goals for the Scorpions either side of half time but the home team were unable to find the consistency in their play to match their opponents.

NOTTINGHAMS mixed teams failure to field a team against Staffordshire means the Scorpions are given a 10-0 walkover.
This is the second consecutive year that Nottingham have failed to travel to Staffordshire, and although Staffs went in slight favorites for the tie, the three points were secured without having to throw a ball.
Staffordshire are now in a very strong position to hold onto third place come the end of the season, with Birmingham now becoming their main threat.
STAFFORDSHIRE University's men's team have forfeited their second game in a month after again failing to pull a team together.
The Scorpions would have fancied their chances against third bottom Oldham but injuries and other commitments hit the team hard, with them unable to field 10 players.
STAFFORDSHIRE's mixed team were unable to cause the upset they craved after Loughborough recorded an 18-6 victory.
The Scorpions put in a decent performance but couldn't match the attacking ability of the only unbeaten team in the league.

THE whole team would like to wish Elle Morrison a quick recovery from her broken collar bone she sustained at Leicester. Everybody was thinking of her after the game and hopes the recovery will be as quick and painless as possible.
STAFFORDSHIRE University recorded their largest win of the year as they beat Leicester 20-2.
However the game was marred by an injury to Elle Morrison. The forward suffered a broken collar bone as she fell awkwardly following a strong challenge from the Leicester defense.
The result means Staffordshire are now three games unbeaten and have moved up to third in the league table.

THE Scorpions men's team face another long journey as they have been drawn away to Leeds in the Quarter Final of the Nigel Wayne Trophy.
Staffs received a bye in the first round and will travel to Leeds having lost 17-1 in the corresponding league fixture.
The tie is to be played on Saturday 7th February
STAFFORDSHIRE Universities mixed team faught back from 8-6 down to score two goals in the dying minutes and rescued a draw against Birmingham. With three minutes remaining the home team needed two goals to level and Dimitri Chambers came up with them both as the team pulled together to complete an excellent team display.

THE mens team gave a hard fought display but were unable to prevent another defeat, going down 10-5 to Brooklands Hulmeians.
A hat-trick from James Anderson kept Staffs in contention but a strong second half performance from Brooklands was too much for the home team.

OUR mixed team ran in their biggest win in nearly two years as they recorded a 16-2 victory over Aston University.
The result means that the Scorpions overtake Nottingham in the table, making next weeks game against Birmingham a fight for third place.

SATURDAY'S match against York has been cancelled die to Staffs being unable to field a team. The Scorpions were only able to get nine players for the fixture and so therefore forfeited the points.
Staffs were without key players Phil Tinkler, Nick Thursby, Rick Gunning, Jack Tew, Ben Bradley, Rich Christon, Stephen Jinks and Dimitri Chambers. They simply were unable to find the players to replace them
THE mixed team put in a valiant effort but were unable to prevent Warwick winning 16-5. The game was really enjoyable and played in a good spirit, a which came as a welcome to change to the previous game at Nottingham. It was a classic example of how mixed lacrosse should be played.

STAFFORDSHIRE'S men's team were unlucky not to gain their first win of the season on Saturday (1st Nov). They managed to keep in touch throughout the first half and leveled at 5-5, but were unable to continue their fight-back, eventually going down 9-5 to Heaton Mersey.
