A great day, perfect weather, reuniting with old friends and playing the sport that brought us all together, at the same time.
It was a strange sight for me. With it being my final year it was fascinating seeing my teammates from the last two or three years and seeing my current teammates clashing as it if was a 'This Is Your Life' moment.
Unfortunately there wasn't an oldies game last year, so this was my second oldies game. The only memories I have of the oldies game two years ago was the oldies getting an early and us gradually fighting back, which included a lot of the oldies arguing with eachother.
Well, a part from the arguing it was a carbon copy except we ended it with a first for the oldies game. It was great to see that we attracted a crowd for this occasion.
A review on the oldies. I think Jay hasn't lot it at all in goal, a great performance as always from the former men's captain. Jack doesn't seem to have lost his speed. Nick's injury doesn't seem to have fully healed and I don't think it will. Apart from them a lot of the others looked fairly rusty, both in terms of catching and running.
Our current squad of players gave it a bloody good go. Did well to come back from 5-0 down at one point. Despite a few of our mens players getting annoyed of the no contact rule, I still think they secretly enjoyed it.
I said earlier the ending was a first and it was, it ended 8-8, therefore it was a shoot-out. Even more stranger, out of a total of 24 shots, it ended 1-0 thanks to a Mr. Stephen Jinks of the oldies.
I can't wait for the next oldies game as I will be an oldie, which will be very strange for me.
